Job Summary:

Westat has an immediate opening for a project manager in our tobacco research group to work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.  This project manager will contribute to a variety of projects focused on tobacco regulatory science and tobacco control, particularly the NIH and FDA-funded Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) Study.

Job Responsibilities:

· Supporting senior managers in the management and technical conduct of various project tasks.· Participating in project work groups; coordinating and monitoring project activities; writing reports and memos; and collaborating on grant and contract proposals.  · Contribute to scientific publications and presentations.  · Frequent communication and coordination with tobacco research scientists and project managers in various corporate, academic and federal government organizations.· Supervising staff.

Basic qualifications:  · A master's degree in public health or other relevant health or social science discipline is required. · 8 years of related research experience with at least three years of management responsibility (including any combination of research management and other organizational management).· Experience with tobacco research.· Demonstrated expertise in the management or management support of public health research projects or other relevant organizational management responsibilities.  Strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills are essential.
