George Mason University’s Division of Special Education and Disability Research within the College of Education and Human Development seeks a part-time administrative assistant for the Helen A. Kellar Institute for Human Disabilities (KIHD). This position will provide administrative support and reporting for special education faculty working on a variety of grant proposals and externally funded projects. Responsibilities: General Administrative Support: Track deadlines for proposal submissions and required reporting on funded projects. Monitor schedule of the Director, coordinate meetings and some selected events. Provide supporting materials for all meetings, proposals, and reports. Assist faculty with proposal preparation, including collecting data and maintaining university, college, and departmental scholar outcomes database.

Grant and Projects Support/Administration/Reporting: Provide administrative and programmatic support to KIHd faculty and other faculty as directed in the implementation of academic and non-academic grants and research projects. Assist with the distribution and retrieval of federal, state or other sponsor data collection and reporting (e.g., annual VDOE/OSEP/IES/NSF federal grant student survey, OSEP/NCSO service obligation tracking system). Gather data as instructed by faculty and enter into sponsor databases, such as the OSEP online database for processing and reporting purposes. Import data from the Qualtrics server and assist with data reports as needed. Maintain templates used for specific sections of grant proposal submissions. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Candidates must be exceptionally detail oriented and organized; have excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as analytical and synthesis skills; possess the ability to interact with principal investigators, sponsors, contractors and customers, and be able to take initiative and work independently. At least one year of experience in an administrative position, including extensive background in the use of word processing and Excel spreadsheet software as well as proficiency in database systems is required. Experience in higher education is preferred but not required.
