Administrative Assistant – Computing Resources

The George Mason University Office of Computing Resources, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, is seeking a part-time administrative assistant to support our department. This part-time (wage) position will assist with room scheduling, tracking support requests, placing and tracking equipment orders, and tracking various departmental documentation. Responsibilities: * Respond to requests for ad-hoc room use; * Assist with course scheduling in department-run classrooms; * Provide assistance with use of web-conference technology; * Place orders for department and assist other departments with technology ordering process; * Maintain fixed asset records; * Manage department documentation including procedures and security documents; * Assist school staff & faculty with A/V use; * Assist school staff & faculty with web conferencing use; * Monitor help requests for timely response & completion; * Handle ad-hoc room reservation requests; * Semester room scheduling; * Help departments with technology orders: ** Read contracts ** Explain sole source / bids / contracts ** Interact with ASRB / Purchasing / ** University Counsel / ATI * Place department orders; * Manage listserves; * Help track orders; * Help with web site requests; * Help with requests involving university services; * Maintain fixed asset records; and * Manage documentation needed for compliance with IT security requirements.

Required Qualifications: * Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including mail-merge and Microsoft Access; * Ability to understand Mason and state procurement procedures and policies * Ability to learn: ** Mail merge to Word & Outlook ** Formulas in Excel ** Outlook calendar delegation Preferred Qualifications: * Experience using and/or supporting web conference technology; * Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including: ** Mail merge to Word & Outlook ** Formulas in Excel ** Outlook calendar delegation * Understanding of web conferencing tools * Ability / willingness to learn about use of A/V technology to support web conferencing; and * Ability / willingness to learn about Mason / COV purchasing policies
