Prime Review Board fosters public trust in research through the optimization of ethical oversight. Created as an independent IRB in 2017, Prime provides ethics consultation and regulatory guidance to clients sponsoring multi-site trials. Prime builds stakeholder collaborations across disciplines and communities to address the complex ethical problems that arise in the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical research. Prime Review Board is a values-based program that connects researchers, communities of research participants, and research ethics professionals. Our commitment to ethical norms shapes the orientation of our work and the standards toward which we strive.

Primary Purpose

Prime is seeking 2 Summer Interns who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree program, preferably as a rising senior with an interest in securing a regular full-time staff position upon graduation. The Summer Intern will be provided applied learning opportunities with meaningful real-life, hands-on work experience in support of improving public health. This is a full-time paid internship up to 40 hours per week; the internship commences on May 28, 2019 and will be completed on August 16, 2019.

Interns at Prime perform a variety of research, database and clerical duties of a routine and technical nature to support project staff in compiling clinical research data. Interns may carry out other duties such as data entry along with administrative duties including filing and photocopying. Interns at Emmes are provided with informal and formal mentorship opportunities with a strong focus on building work skills, with a goal of future placement as a full-time regular staff upon graduation.


2019 Summer Interns may work on the following projects:

  • Website content maintenance
  • Linking new files
  • Develop content graphics
  • Updating page content
  • Document reformatting
  • File name reformatting
  • Format existing files for import, import files into E-system
  • Survey Monkey
  • Create quizzes for board
  • Create Board training quarterly reports
  • Create a Prime LinkedIn page and manage content/posts
  • Contribute to conference marketing strategies
  • Develop Prime customer satisfaction survey
  • Start an Investigator Handbook
  • Additional IRB benchmarking research
  • Other duties as assigned Experience

      Current enrollment in an accredited degree program Ability to apply problem solving, organizational and analytical skills both within group and individual settings Demonstrated high attention to detail along with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products and basic office equipment including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Copying, and Scanning Strong oral and written communication skills including writing, proofing, and editing
