Westat has an immediate opening for a senior study director to join our team of leading researchers in justice studies conducting survey and evaluation studies on juvenile placement, institutional and community corrections, alternative sanctions, victim assistance, victim services, victims of human trafficking, restorative justice, police in schools, gang prevention and intervention programs, and other law enforcement studies, and community courts, drug courts, mental health courts, veteran's courts, and/or family courts.

Job Responsibilities:

· Responsible for all stages of projects from research design through data collection, analysis, and reporting.  · Manage project budgets, developing technical, staffing, and cost proposals. · Keep the project on schedule and within budget. · Leadership role in business development and writing proposals. · Supervising staff, and interacting with clients.

Basic Qualifications:

· A master's degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or a related social science field with 15 years of relevant justice experience, or a Ph.D. with 10 years of relevant experience is required. · Experience as a project director leading all phases of survey and/or evaluation research is required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods. · Experience managing project budgets, developing technical, staffing, and cost proposals. · Experience working in a contracting environment. · Experience collecting and analyzing data from administrative and primary sources (agencies, individuals) as well as disseminating research findings to a variety of audiences. · Experience with justice agencies, justice service providers, offenders, and/or victims.
Candidates should have detailed understanding and demonstrated successful track record establishing and maintaining strong client relationships. Demonstrated success managing and writing winning grant and/or contract proposals and implementing projects. Demonstrated success producing high-quality research products as evidenced by a substantial record of publications and/or reports. Candidates should describe their role on successful proposals and on the projects awarded. You should be able to work in a team environment and have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
