Fairfax Water is currently accepting applications for summer intern positions.  Employment will begin on either May 13, May 27, June 10, or June 24, 2019 and you may continue to work until August 16, 2019 as last work day of program.

Maintenance Aide, Work Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Work location will be  Newington, VA
The individual will perform painting duties on existing fire hydrants.  Assist with the collection of GPS data.  Assist with other Distribution Maintenance duties as assigned.  You will be required to drive a Fairfax Water vehicle - Ford F150.

Easement Aide, Work Schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, Work location will be Newington, VA.
The individual will be performing grounds maintenance work such as clean up, mowing grass, landscaping, trimming bushes, and removing trees.  Assisting with the maintenance and repair of a verity of equipment including lawn equipment, tractors, and chain saws.  Operating a variety of tools and equipment to include:  push and riding mowers, weed and hedge trimmers, and air blowers.  Assisting maintenance mechanics with assigned duties.
Qualifications:

  • Able to perform manual labor for prolonged periods
  • Able to lift 75 pounds

Fleet Services Aide, Work Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Work location will be  Chantilly or Newington, VA.

Assist with tasks associated with automotive shop.

 

The following qualifications are required for each position in addition to the specific requirements listed for each position:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university or trade school for the upcoming fall to qualify for the program.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening
