Establishes trust and becomes a reliable partner while serving as a link between management and employees by handling questions, and interpreting and helping to resolve work-related problems . Serves as an "HR department of one" while the business grows . Translates goals into operationalized project work, tasks, ideas, and directives . Provides both transactional and complex day-to-day support and operations management along with strategic oversight of HR operations and initiatives (plan design, records management, policy development, I-9's, etc.) . Creates HR action plans based on business direction . Works with leadership to review progress of HR-related goals, adapting as needed based on business direction . Advises managers on organizational policy matters and recommends needed changes . Identifies resources including objective and subjective data to analyze and address issues and identify vendors . Educates leadership and employees on compliance and short- and long-term impact . Uses principles of change management and best practices when considering change . Develops communication plans for HR and other initiatives (policy changes, training, open enrollment, etc.) . Educates and supports leadership in identification, application, and relevance of HR tools, software, etc. . Provides benefits plan design and plan administration (enrollment, broker/vendor selection) . Manages employee life cycle activities . Manages performance appraisals, making program recommendations where appropriate . Provides coaching (executive, leadership, management, supervisor) and helps develop individual competencies . Conducts cost/benefit analysis for all HR initiatives . Works with leadership team to develop Total Rewards and a compensation philosophy . Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal laws (government contracting requirements, OFCCP, COBRA, ACA, USERRA/Military Leave, ERISA, HIPPA, ADA, Title VII, etc.) . Conducts compliance training (harassment and sexual harassment prevention) . Conducts employee relations investigations Education: . Bachelor's degree required . Master's degree in business administration (MBA), Human Resources Management (HRM) or related field preferred . Minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility and experience in an HR department . PHR or SPHR required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: . Highly organized with great attention to detail . Excellent relationship building, time management, interpersonal, problem solving, written and oral communication and organizational skills . Experience working in Human Resources for government contractor required (DoD government contractor preferred) . Knowledge of all aspects of HR management, principles and procedures for recruitment, diversity and inclusion, training, compensation and benefits, employee relations, DoD contracting, and technology . Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning and leadership . Knowledge of employment and compliance laws . Knowledge of training design and instruction for adult learners . Knowledge of team and individual dynamics, performance engagement, and organizational dynamics . Excellent listening skills, judgment and decision-making . Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Google Business, Kelly software (HR services, KTBS) and project management software (Altassian, JIRA) preferred . Superior time management and highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage competing needs . Excellent written and verbal skills with emphasis on diplomacy and tact
