Successful Commercial General Contractor seeks a Senior Project Estimator for both negotiated and competitive bid projects. Join a team of highly skilled and committed professionals who work collaboratively and effectively to deliver quality, on-time and on-budget projects in the Washington, DC area. Position Responsibilities include: The Senior Estimator is a member of the Preconstruction Team responsible for providing accurate and on-time bids for prospective projects. This includes Reviews drawings and specifications to determine quantities and calculate pricing. Communicates, solicits and interacts with sub-contractors in various trades to obtain pricing for projects. Determines quantities of materials in various trades by using estimating department software. Attends pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess the conditions of the site or existing building, as necessary. Solicits and receives subcontractor bids, reviewing for scopes of work and pricing for completeness. Communicates with bidders for final overview and assures completeness of bid prior to inclusion in an estimate, bid or guaranteed maximum price (GMP). Reviews drawings and specifications for assigned portions of Preconstruction Projects to calculate budgets from schematic through final construction documents as assigned. Communicates with team members, bid captains, estimating manager and others as required to convene scopes, pricing, construction details, etc. Attends kick-off meeting with Estimators, Project Manager and Superintendents. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Construction Management or equivalent field experience. 5-10 years construction experience with a minimum of 5 years of estimating experience. History of successfully working internally with the operational team and externally with Owner, Architects/Engineers, and subcontractors. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with using computers, construction management software and MS Office products. Ability to develop conceptual budgets, estimates and bids for tenant-improvement and/or building renovations. Able to assess potential job sites for constructability and identify potential pitfalls/issues. Demonstrated ability to read construction documents and create thorough accurate estimates. Organized, self-motivated, able to work independently, and a commitment to excellence. Experience using estimating, project management, scheduling and cloud-based technology.
