Job Description The data architect is responsible for planning activities that define the information needs of the enterprise and design the data master blueprints to meet those needs within the context of all enterprise architecture and the connections with information systems, information technologies, and solutions. The architect is responsible to provide high quality data, and to identify and define common information requirements and design conceptual structures and plans to meet the current and long-term data requirements of the enterprise. Responsibilities: Assist in the coordination of data governance activities in alignment with portfolio management strategy Understand the information needs of the enterprise with emphasis on executive information consumption and data that comes from or is provided to parties external to the enterprise Develop and maintain an integrated, subject-oriented, predominantly conceptual enterprise data model that represents essential data produced and consumed across the enterprise Develop and maintain cross-references that map elements of the enterprise data model to organization, function, and process business models Develop and maintain cross-references that map elements of the enterprise data model to information systems, business applications, and data-oriented information technologies Identify gaps in data architecture management practices and orchestrates eliminating those gaps by developing: Models that demonstrate effective data warehousing and business intelligence Models that demonstrate effective data integration Models that demonstrate effective meta-data management Models that demonstrate how information technologies are to be successfully employed in an effective data management Stay abreast of data management industry trends and data models and champions their potential to improve enterprise data management Define and publish data management standards Educate upward and outward about the business value of enterprise data architecture and data management Required Skills: Data modeling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models Understanding of the differences between relational and object modeling Understanding of meta-models, taxonomies and ontologys, as well as the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less-structured sources Familiarity with MDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse development techniques Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs Strong communication and persuasion skills, including the ability to create marketing and messaging materials to satisfy stakeholder preferences Ability to analyze project, program, and portfolio needs, as well as to determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers Desired Skills: DoD IT Acquisition domain knowledge is preferred Minimum of seven years of experience in IT, with at least five years in information system design In-depth experience in designing and implementing information solutions Five years of experience in a data oriented job such as a data analyst or data architect Hands-on experience implementing MDM, data integration, document management, BI, or data warehouse solutions preferred Job Location US-Chantilly-VA-VIRGINIA SUBURBAN CACI employs a diverse range of talent to create an environment that fuels innovation and fosters continuous improvement and success.
