If you have proven experience in monitoring capabilities particularly in log aggregation/analytics tools and dash-boarding, apply to Freddie Mac's Platform Services team. This team is modernizing application and security monitoring and is also in the process of establishing an IT data lake. Our goal is to equip our operations teams with timely information on availability, performance, and capacity for applications and infrastructure across Freddie Mac. This is achieved in a hybrid environment and allows us to maximize business resiliency. As an Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to not only transform our technical capabilities and sharpen your skills, but to also play a key role in shaping the future of our services across the enterprise.

Your Work Falls into Three Primary Categories:

Team Management
* Manage and develop a team of engineers in a DevOps environment
* Attract, recruit, retain, and develop top talent
* Ensure the team is operating in the most effective way possible and have the appropriate level of skills and resources to be successful
* Motivate direct reports to work through obstacles and coach them to be productive and at the same time help develop their careers
* Gain cooperation from other areas by influencing positively and by building relationships

Technical Leadership
* Engage with business users, application and platform owners, and other parties to understand business needs and processes; guide project teams and sponsors in identifying the best solutions
* Participate in technology assessment; design based on requirements and architectural guidelines, prototype if necessary, and implement reliable solutions
* Develop and enhance appropriate operational procedures to ensure consistent service delivery and compliance
* Ensure all systems have high availability and disaster recovery in place per design
* Establish appropriate metrics and collect periodic measurements to monitor and report on availability, performance, capacity, and any other relevant metrics

Change Agent
* Champion technology and tools change that improves delivery processes
* Act as an agent for change to reflect the latest standards in new technologies and tools
* Serve as an enterprise subject matter expert (SME) and advocate of IT standards and reference architectures


* 8-10 years of elaborating and relevant Information Technology experience
* 2+ years of management skills with a passion for leading and developing staff
* 2+ years of hands on experience of implementing Splunk and maintaining its operations
* Proven track-record in designing Splunk in the cloud, particularly AWS, and migrating from a sizable on-prem installation
* In depth experience designing solutions that are: secure, resilient, scalable, transformative
* Experience using or administering Linux and Windows operating systems
* Fluent in Unix shell and other modern scripting languages
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, any related field, or equivalent experience
* Strong work ethic, self-motivated, independent, and works with minimal direction

* Experience designing and monitoring containerized infrastructure solutions following Microservices and DevOps principles
* Knowledge of data lakes particularly Hadoop implementation
* Exposure to the financial services industry
