Freddie Mac is looking for a highly motivated Database Manager to join our Global Operations team here in Northern Virginia, Reston area. Database manager will contribute to future roadmap, vision and strategy on database platforms, drive automation, lead a team of database engineers and provide high quality database services across multiple platforms that includes RDBMS (Sybase/SQL/Oracle/DB2), Big Data Analytics, No-SQL (MongoDB) and other emerging cloud database technologies.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Provide strategic leadership, management and operations support for database platforms and emerging cloud database services on AWS/Azure/GCP ensuring optimal platform services across the enterprise
  • Establish and enforce Database Platform policies, controls, standards, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Lead a team of Database engineers to provide 24×7 database operations to support business critical applications
  • Oversee the automation, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade and administration of all database platforms to achieve a great customer experience, system availability, performance, and security objectives.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and service level objectives for continually improving the Database services across the enterprise
  • Review performance and capacity of databases to manage the optimization of operating costs, improve operational efficiency, increase reliability and performance, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
  • Responsible for database high availability and disaster recovery and data replication
  • Partner with platform engineering teams to assess/evaluate/certify emerging database technologies and tools
  • Partner with application development and business teams as a strategic partner in supporting their respective roadmaps and driving alignment on strategy goals
  • Communicate clearly and precisely with all levels of the company
  • Implement strategies to attract, retain, motivate and develop talent in their organization
  • Manage and resolve client issues, including competing demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts within their organization and/or with other teams.
  • Build and promote partnerships and alignment across both application development and infrastructure teams to ensure optimal database services


  • 10-12 years of related work experience
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Subject matter expertise skills on one or more database platforms
  • Strong people management skills
  • Previous experience of managing large team of database engineers

Preferred Skills
