Engineer III Network & Operations
What you'll be doing You will perform Center Engineering for various build initiatives in the Intelligent Edge network as well as for legacy central office equipment. Candidate will engineer and manage multiple simultaneous projects. The position requires involvement throughout the life cycle of a build, including material ordering and escalation and project (budget) closure. The Engineer will utilize Verizon Capacity Creation Process (CCP) system, vSAP, CoFEE/ICON and other internal systems to create TEOs, order material and manage capital projects. Handle multiple Capacity Creation Requests for new hardware deployments, reconfigurations, decommissions, and First Office Application (FOA) projects. Create Engineering, Installation, Furnish, Retirement Telephone Equipment Orders (TEOs). Request and process vendor and/or NNI quotes for engineering and installation work. Ensure material Purchase Orders (POs) are generated and escalate material as needed; order BOM and ICON generated equipment. Create Project supplements as needed and ensure projects are closed out timely. Maintain excellent communication with Project Manager, Field Engineer, Functional Team Members and Direct Management to ensure early identification of issues and timely reporting of status. What we're looking for You'll need to have: Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience. Three or more years of relevant work experience. Even better if you have: Associates/Bachelors of Engineering, Science or Technology or equivalent work experience. Three or more years of experience with Verizon's CCP and vSAP systems at a detailed level or three or more years of experience with Verizon central office engineering/technology. Understanding of CoFEE / ICON system. Understanding of material ordering process and procedures. Excellent Excel, Word, and other MS application skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Experience in any combination of Center Engineering, Vendor management, Field Engineering, Project Management. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency. Self-motivated. Experience working with equipment vendors to implement projects, such as material needs, change orders and processing disputes. Experience with the following systems: CCP/CCC, vSAP, CoFEE/ICON, COAR, COEP. MSOLV, PicsNet.
