We support our customers using Agile, SAFe(R), and DevSecOps processes. Our internally developed software tools enable the modernization of legacy applications through containerized microservices, and accelerate the migration of legacy apps into cloud environments. The Software Practice spans custom software development, COTS integration, mission applications, and real-time software. Leveraging your business acumen, technology savvy, and people leadership skills, you will lead the Software Practice in SAIC. In this role, you will drive the software strategy from the portfolio-spanning horizontal in SAIC's matrix structure through the Software Practice leadership team. You will be the external spokesperson for the Software Practice and the internal champion for the Software Strategy. You will develop and drive the technical strategy including technology roadmap, internal R&D programs, and strategic workforce development. You will be responsible for shepherding the software portfolio of repeatable solutions, and manage the software leadership team. Responsibilities include: - Develop and drive SAIC's software strategy and champion the strategy both internally and externally - Execute the strategic plan for the Software Practice; identify potential areas of investment for developing repeatable and differentiated services and solutions; manage approved activities including internal R&D approved programs; ensure consistent enterprise process implementation - Set the training strategy and oversee the strategic training budget for workforce development in alignment with the strategy - Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with external alliance partners supporting the strategy - Collaborate with internal customer-facing leadership to capture strategic and high-value business development opportunities - Work in partnership with the Strategy, Sales, and Solutions Team to influence the prioritization of pipeline opportunities from the Software Practice perspective - Support the execution of current Software contracts - Identify opportunities for expanding software capabilities across customer markets - Mentor and manage the team of Solution Developers, Solution Architects, and Solution Delivery leaders and teams. - Discuss/enable/optimize/affect staffing opportunities and career development with direct reports and Software Practice employees - Financial and Administrative Management - Support annual operating plan development, and manage execution of the Software Practice to the budget - Represent Software Development needs to SAIC's Corporate IT and Cyber leadership Qualifications: Qualifications: - Executive experience developing and executing successful software strategies, and leading large software development organizations. - 15+ years of progressive experience in leading IT teams (preferably Software Development teams) to solve business and mission problems. At least 5 years delivering services to the US Government and at least 2 years managing organizations of more than 250 personnel - Must have a detailed understanding of the Software marketplace for US government, to include Federal Civilian, DoD, and IC customer segments. - Must have excellent writing skills and ability to communicate effectively, including public speaking, and briefing senior executives in SAIC and the US Government. Experience interfacing with executive leaders and peers in advocating priorities, investments, and business processes - Must have a thorough understanding of strategy development and execution, capability management, people management, and software technologies such as Agile, DevSecOps, microservices architecture, software systems engineering, cloud and cyber concepts - Must have a thorough understanding of business development and capture - Characteristics necessary for success include: analytical, presentation, and problem-solving skills; the ability to gain internal and external support; to operate independently without supervision or feedback; and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, managers and peers. - Bachelor's degree in related technical field and 15+ years' experience in information services, with supervisory background. Master's degree is desirable.
