Senior Director, Government Affairs and Policy Employer Global Blood Therapeutics Location Washington, DC Posted Feb 02, 2019 Ref 426 Discipline Regulatory, Legal/Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Research/Documentation Required Education Bachelors Degree Position Type Full time * Send * You need to sign in or create an account to save * Apply SENIOR DIRECTOR, GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS AND POLICY Position Summary: The Senior Director of GA & Policy will be help lead development and execution of public policy strategies in support of GBTs corporate objectives, including patient access to GBTs portfolio of products. The Sr. Director will monitor relevant policy issues and developments at the federal and state levels; and will be responsible for developing and articulating GBTs public policy positions that support GBTs corporate objectives, both internally and externally. He/She will work closely with the SVP of Government Affairs & Policy in strategic development and execution of priorities, as well as with cross functional partners, including commercial, clinical, regulatory, legal, communications and community/patient engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Monitor and analyze federal/state legislative and regulatory initiatives that may impact GBT as a biopharmaceutical research company; assist in development of coherent policy positions and strategies for effective engagement with federal and state stakeholders to advance GBTs corporate objectives * Educate internal stakeholders on the impact of policy initiatives; facilitate cross-functional coordination and discussion to identify public policy priorities and positions * Work directly with SVP to develop and execute strategies in support of GBTs full portfolio of issues and objectives, and to keep senior leadership fully informed and engaged where appropriate * Communicate regularly to senior management and cross-functional partners regarding policy developments, analysis/impact and strategy/execution * Represent GBT among relevant industry groups, including BIO, CLSA and with key federal and state policy makers and stakeholders, including Medicare (CMS) and state Medicaid programs * Manage consultants/projects in support of strategy and objectives. * Travel required Qualifications: * Bachelors' degree required; advanced degree in public health, policy or law a plus * At least 10 years of experience in health policy, government affairs, reimbursement/access, or as a consultant in biopharmaceutical or health care industry. Industry experience a plus * Successful candidates will have strong analytical, written, presentation and communication skills, as well as a comprehensive understanding of health policy trends in the US, and a deep, working knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicare, Medicaid, VA/DOD and private health insurance * Deep level of experience with Medicare (CMS) and state Medicaid programs * Strong understanding of business drivers and ability to advise/support business objectives from a political/policy perspective Fit with GBT culture: * Ability to build strong relationships with co-workers of various backgrounds and expertise * Ability to function at a high level in a team setting whether leading the group or acting as an individual contributor * Values-based leadership consistent with GBT's Core Values * Excitement about the vision and mission of GBT * Flexibility * Integrity NOTE: This position summary is not intended to be all-inclusive.
