The Lead Truck Mechanic is responsible for timely completion of routine maintenance and emergency repairs of the DC truck fleet. Job Responsibilities Perform scheduled routine maintenance and diagnostics including but not limited to: tire changes/rotations, electrical and mechanical system checks Perform emergency repairs as identified by drivers and inspections ie brakes, vehicle lighting Proficiently perform and stick welding operations when and where required including but not limited to: cutting, braising, fabricating and routine maintenance Other duties as assigned: Maintain a clean and safe work area Replace worn and/or malfunctioning parts Advise management of all safety related concerns Decision Making Responsibilities: All decision making responsibilities are under the direct supervision of the DC Traffic Manager. All work is performed within standard policies/procedures and DOT regulations Required Qualifications Excellent knowledge of transportation equipment, both in the specifications and maintenance, as well as the operational side Must provide own tools The ability to schedule shop work, order parts, maintain proper documentation for compliance issues, and making sure the fleet is always road worthy is required Must be certifiable and proficient in Air Brake systems Basic knowledge of vehicle wiring, alternators, starters, relays, fuel solenoids and other related parts Solid welding proficiency with mig and stick Must be able to mount, dismount and patch truck tires Bob's Discount Furniture is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to reasonably accommodating qualified persons with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential duties of their position.
