All applicants for the positions of Diesel Mechanic shall meet the following minimum requirements: Must have Diesel engine experience with rebuilding and diagnostic repairs. Must have experience in general maintenance of industrial grade trucks, oil services, tune ups and trouble shooting. Transmission experience is a plus. Must have own tools to perform general services and diagnostics. Hydraulic experience, fitting repair, and services a plus. The types of equipment/trucks you should have an experience with are loaders, excavators, backhoes, mini excavators, low boys, 6 wheel dump trucks, 10 wheel dump trucks, vactor trucks, and commercial trucks. 1. Successfully pass an alcohol and controlled substances screen, in accordance with Flippo Construction Company, Inc. policies and guidelines and/or those regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and/or other government agencies. 2. Possess the physical and mental ability to perform all work components as listed in this "Job Description." 3. Have a means of transportation in order to report to a designated job location at the specified starting time, each workday. JOB DESCRIPTION (General Information): Your POSITION or "JOB CLASS" Mechanic and your starting salary are set at the time you are hired. The Equipment Manager and/or the Supervisor that you will be working for determine both. Their decision is based upon the completeness of your application, the interview process, your references, your values and behavior, your talent, your previous construction experience, your job knowledge inour line of work and finally, how well we perceive you to "fit in" with our employees andmanagement philosophies. For the purposes of submitting an employment application with Flippo Construction Co., Inc., the job classification of a "Mechanic" is considered to be a skilled position. This position is one of physical output and mental skill. A mechanic must be able to work on various assignments without supervision. Any future promotions and/or pay increases are determined strictly by your work performance, continuing knowledge and attitude at the time of your evaluation. Flippo Construction Company, Inc. relies on its maintenance staff to perform all necessary repairs and preventive maintenance to its heavy equipment. All the maintenance staff should assume the following responsibilities, which includes; heavy-duty diesel mechanics, welders, tire men, and oilers. A person selected for a mechanic's position must have primary experience in the following: SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED: All must exercise safety procedures and apply caution at all times to avoid accidents around the shop and in the field. Each staff member is responsible for the area in which he/she works. He must thoroughly clean and replace shop tools in their respective location. The mechanic must notify Foremen or Supervisor of all parts needed to keep up the maintenance of the equipment. The Equipment Manager or Shop Foreman will schedule follow-up of the repairs after the parts have arrived. Staff must fill in time sheets daily and report any work that is not completed for the late and early man to finish off. When a job is completed on site, the mechanic must check that repairs hold up and also check with Foreman for any other problems before leaving the area. Inform the operator or Foreman if temporary or permanent, also status of machine. Mechanics need to carry spare parts: o-rings, oil and any other small items to make a temporary repair. Need to keep in radio contact as to where you're going, when complete and if anything else in the area needs repair. Need to check out in evening before knocking off to see if there are any other breakdowns. The mechanic, through the Shop Foreman, should get in touch with field Foreman and Superintendent before scheduling shut down of any equipment during working hours. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
