A master's or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
A combination of specialized experience and education.
You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in: provide advisory services to customers pertaining to eligibility for Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB), Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), flexible spending accounts and retirement; input data into automated personnel database for; and provide assistance to customers with using automated systems for benefit elections.
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related from an accredited college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).
A combination of specialized experience and education
You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11 requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in: providing advisory services to managers, supervisors and/or employees in the areas of employee benefits, such as: retirement, death benefits, Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB), Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), etc.; preparing Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to all areas of benefits; and assisting employees on the post 1956 military service deposits.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
