The George Mason University Student Support and Advocacy Center is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for an Associate Director. The Assistant Director will report to the Associate Director of SSAC. In concert with the Associate Director, the Assistant Director will address the needs of students in crisis or distress, will conduct educational outreach to the University community, will supervise the operation of the Patriot Pantry, and will assist with general office operation as well as special projects. The Assistant Director is a professional who is committed to fostering the holistic growth of students while striving to maintain the wellbeing and safety of the University community. This position will involve after-hours and weekend work as needed.

The Student Support and Advocacy Center is committed to providing an empowering environment for all Mason students to seek support services and to explore healthy life choices. We offer educational programming, one-on-one consultations, and resources in the areas of interpersonal violence, personal wellness, and alcohol and drug use. We assist students encountering barriers to personal success.

Responsibilities: * Manage referrals and student issues related to distress/crisis intervention * Implement developmentally appropriate interventions, coordinate resources and services, and monitor follow-up and progress of students of concern cases; * Collaborate with other units in assisting students of concern - Counseling and Psychological Services; Student Health Services; Student Conduct; Housing and Residence Life; Office of Disability Services; University Police; and appropriate academic administrators and faculty from around the University; * Ensure that students of concern records are maintained in accordance with University policies and applicable laws; * Manage the operation and further development of the Patriot Pantry serving the campus community and supervise its graduate and undergraduate student staff; * Monitor personnel and operating expenses related to the Patriot Pantry and produce reports on its users and operation; * Serve as a member of the University CARE Team; * Provide support and guidance to offices in matters pertaining to case management; consult with Director and Dean of Students staff when impact of a situation crosses functional boundaries; * Develop and implement outreach and education efforts for the Mason community in collaboration with appropriate University and off-campus constituents; * Assist the Director and Associate Director with special projects and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: * A masters degree in student personnel administration, higher education, counseling, social work, or a related area; * Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; problem solving and analytical skills; * Ability to build and maintain successful collaborative relationships in a diverse campus community; * Ability to operate various software programs, including Pave Software and Microsoft Office products; and * Drive and flexibility to work in a high-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated full-time work experience in a university setting within student affairs or equivalent; * Experience in managing students of concern or related issues
