Description: This position will lead institutional business development for two international health and development NGOs entering a strategic partnership: Company and IMA World Health (IMA). The VP, Business Development and Strategic Partnerships will develop and oversee our joint business development strategy to generate new resources to support our collective mission of reducing poverty and promoting healthy communities by addressing health and development issues with an integrated approach. Duties: Deep commitment to Company and IMA core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners. Minimum of 12 years of program management and business development experience in the international health, agriculture, livelihoods, and/or emergencies sector. Minimum 8 years of experience working within business development. Experience at a senior leadership level in an international not-for-profit setting strongly preferred. Technical skills in at least one of our core capability areas: Health systems strengthening; primary healthcare in post-conflict and complex environments; nutrition; maternal and child health; humanitarian health sector; agricultural productivity, food security and nutrition; value chain development; input supply and farm services; economic resilience and rapid recovery; and access to finance. Master's degree in a relevant field or comparable experience. Concentration in public health, agriculture, economic development, or humanitarian sectors preferred. Demonstrated success in raising restricted funds from institutional donors for international development programs. Experience with USAID required. Experience with DFID, multilateral donors (World Bank, Global Fund, European Union), and other USG agencies a plus. French/Spanish language skills a plus. Travel, including overseas, up to 20% percent of the time. Willingness to travel, as necessary, to and within countries experiencing political instability and/or presenting certain health risks. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Oversee all aspects of the new business development strategy and lifecycle, identifying possible funding sources for new programs compatible with Company and IMA mission, values, and strategic objectives. Maintain a \"bird's eye view\" of the new business pipeline and ensures the teams achieve revenue targets. Informs and advises on go/no go decisions. Ensure new business development systems, processes, and strategies are well-designed and managed. Collaborate with Finance, International Programs, Health Programs and Emergency Operations to ensure appropriate management and compliance. Supervise teams conducting the scoping/capture for new opportunities and development of successful proposals. Working with the contracts and programs teams, negotiating award agreements and contracts with institutional donors. Ensure the quality of reports to donors and that reports respond to donor priorities. Supervise teams conducting the scoping/capture for new opportunities and development of successful proposals. Work collaboratively with allied departments, including Engagement and External Relations, Programs, Finance, and Communications teams to generate new business. Collaborate closely with the programs department to develop cutting-edge technical solutions for health, agriculture, resilience, and other programming. Build and maintain relationships with peer organizations and institutional donors, including the US government, DFID (UK Aid), multilateral (World Bank, Global Fund and the European Union), and other bilateral donors in collaboration with with staff managing institutional relationships in other parts of the organization.. STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS Inform organizational processes for relationship strategy development from business development perspective. Support visibility and positioning efforts related to business development to institutional donors by attending key meetings and events. Provide tools, capacity building and messaging for staff in other units who are involved in institutional relationship management (at local, regional, and global levels), ensuring streamlined relationships; in collaboration with the Engagement and External Relations division. to ensure consistent messaging. Along with programs teams, identify new partnerships for programs that are compatible with Company and IMA mission, values, and strategic objectives. Create systems to track, manage, and strategize around peer organization partnerships in collaboration with the International Programs (IPD) and Health Programs and Emergency Operations (HPE) Departments. Work with Communications and Marketing Department to create and implement on-going marketing strategies to raise awareness among potential institutional funding sources of the new capabilities and capacity provided through the innovative partnership of Company and IMA. Works with other departments to develop and enhance relationships with the private sector, including corporations and CSR opportunities. OPERATIONAL/UNIT MANAGEMENT Hire, train, supervise, and inspire staff. Place a premium on supportive, mentoring leadership techniques to guide staff members. Regularly observe and give evaluative thought to the job performance of staff members. Conduct formal performance reviews in accordance with Company and IMA policies. Provide staff with complete and timely information that relates to their general duties and responsibilities. As appropriate, make sure that staff members are made aware promptly of (a) new or uniquely-occurring situations or activities within the organization, and (b) leadership decisions that might affect their work. Contribute to maintaining relationships with vendors, contractors and consultants, interns and volunteers. Administer overall department operations and manages services necessary to support effective institutional relationships and internal operations. This includes systematic analysis of data and provision of reports relevant to all institutional partnerships and revenue generation. Develop and maintain sound operational and business procedures within the NB and SP Department. Formulate and manage the unit's annual budget. S/he will model and advocate for the highest level of collaboration and teamwork among colleagues throughout and across the organizations. KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT Direct the design and review of relevant internal BD reports to guide revenue acquisition efforts and decision-making. Use data to improve our joint efforts to improve revenue acquisition.
