Director, Loan Accounting Transformation Summary PenFed is hiring a Director, Loan Accounting Transformation in Tysons, Virginia. The primary purpose of this job is to implement the new loan accounting system into a run-the-business state; this role will then transition to a full-time, run-the-business role within Corporate Accounting. This role will be responsible for establishing business requirements, overseeing accounting policy elections and developing a transition plan to convert current loan accounting practices across multiple loan portfolios to the new system. Execute on strategic and operational plans to modernize PenFed s financial accounting infrastructure. Lead the implementation of a loan accounting solution to optimize and refine existing accounting practices. Interact with external business units and loan accounting software provider to develop reporting requirements that will be implemented as part of the loan accounting solution. Responsible for sustainable design and/or fulfillment of: monthly close cycle process, business process optimization, reporting and analysis shared services center, internal control design and deployment. Proactively engage and collaborate with functional leaders (Line of Business Operations and IT), process owners, system users, and business leadership across the company to assess the business operations that deliver data supporting consumer, mortgage and auto loans. Provide leadership and knowledge to implementation team, and support the change management elements of the loan accounting solution to ensure that the changes are sustainable throughout the accounting organization. Develop loan accounting change control discipline to ensure ongoing fidelity of loan accounting results: change control efforts address changes in loan products, loan data-delivery channels and changes from regulatory requirements. Develop documentation, procedures, and applicable training materials for the accounting department. Prepare presentations and communications for stakeholders and senior management. Provide technical accounting guidance to support policies and regulatory changes to conform to GAAP. Oversee accounting topics including fair value accounting under ASC 820, accounting for purchased loans and receivables under ASC 310, loss contingencies under ASC 450 and transfers and servicing under ASC 860. Education and Experience Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance is required . Minimum of ten (10) years relevant professional experience in financial services, banking or credit unions is required. Minimum of three (3) years experience managing and leading Accounting teams is required. Experience working in a project delivery environment that implements software solutions for finance functions. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to understand business processes and corresponding data. Ability to discuss relevant accounting issues/concepts effectively with other professionals and non-technical users. Knowledge of project management methodology, processes, tools, scope management, financial tracking, scheduling and resource management. Experience in the development of deliverables and reports and ability to condense highly technical subject matter into clear and effective communications to senior management. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills required with ability to work with all management levels. Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, Hyperion, Tableau. Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Supervisory Responsibility Est. Direct Staff / Est.
