    This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation.     Upon appointment, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450. You will need to provide the information annually.

    Selectee must submit to a drug test and receive negative test results before being appointed. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
      
    You are applying under Delegated Examining and if selected under this authority, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period, even if you are a transfer from another federal agency.

    In addition to the basic education requirement, all applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

    Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

    1) providing professional interpretation and consultation of chemistry data and application of the data to the regulatory process; 2) conducting regulatory reviews; 3) researching and analyzing data and information from scientific and engineering literature in order to determine risk and severity of potential injuries and death related to hazards of consumer products.

    Basic Requirements:

    Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

    OR

    Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
