    • This position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test is received.
    • Because this position requires travel for official business, the selectee will be required to apply for a charge card within 30 calendar days of appointment.  Individuals who have delinquent account balances from a previous Government charge card will be required to satisfy their existing obligation before a new card can be issued.

    In addition to the basic education requirements, as stated in the links for the applicable series above, applicants must have one year of appropriate professional experience in biology, geophysics, hydrology, or geology that is equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service.

    Examples of GS-14 level work may include: 1) Developing and coordinating major interdisciplinary emergency management projects that may impact regional and national  scientific objectives; 2) developing or directly influencing the scientific, administrative and technical policies, standards, procedures, and instructions necessary for the effective direction and operation of a multi-discipline emergency management program; 3) resolving critical problems resulting from the unprecedented complexities of a multi-discipline scientific and/or emergency preparedness program; 4) serving as the principal contact with other Federal agencies, state and local government organizations, and other groups that may affect the success of major interdisciplinary scientific and/or emergency management activities. The work would have involved advising or counseling other recognized senior technical experts in the physical or natural sciences and related disciplines including biology, geology, hydrology and/or geophysics.
