  • BASIC REQUIREMENT:The Criminal Investigation occupation has specific medical requirements which apply to all positions. Moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction; Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz level. Possess emotional and mental stability.

    You may qualify at the GL-07 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-05 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates experience in 1) perform routine inspection of documents for accuracy and compliance; 2) plan and organize work; 3) provide responses to request for routine case file information. OR 1 full year of graduate level education OR superior academic achievement.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
    andatory Completion of Basic Training for Criminal Investigators:Qualified candidates selected for employment must successfully complete approximately 4 1/2 months of paid training. Candidates must successfully complete each phase of training in order to proceed to the next phase, as follows:Phase 1: Approximately 12 weeks of Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) located in Brunswick, Georgia to give Special Agent recruits basic law enforcement and investigative skills.Phase 2: Approximately 5 weeks of POST FLETC CITP Agency Specific Basic (ASB) Training located in Falls Church, VA.Individuals selected for criminal investigator positions are covered under special law enforcement provisions. This requires that applicants not exceed the maximum age for entry that is the date immediately preceding the applicant's 37th birthday unless they have previous service in a Federal Law Enforcement Retirement System position covered by special civil service retirement provision, including early or mandatory retirement. In order to receive consideration for this position, applicants MUST INCLUDE A STATEMENT IN THEIR RESUME WHICH CERTIFIES THEY MEET THE AGE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION. If the applicant is over 36, the applicant must demonstrate that he/she is already in a Federal Law enforcement Retirement System position by providing a copy of their SF-50 that indicates this information. AGE RESTRICTIONS DO NOT APPLY TO VETERANS.Note: Failure to successfully complete all phases of training may result in removal from the position.Conditions of Employment:This position falls under the Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) Act. As part of this Act, the incumbent is required to work an additional 2 hours per day (10 hour workday) in order to receive the 25% Availability Pay allowance that this Act specifies.This position is identified as a covered position under the PFPA Civilian Mobility Program, Regulation 1400.24, effective September 28, 2015. This position requires that candidates selected on or after 11/14/2016 must sign a mobility agreement as a condition of employment. PFPA may relocate covered positions and covered employees in permanent changes of duty station between PFPA duty locations in the National Capital Region; Raven Rock Mountain Complex (Adams County, Pennsylvania); Glynco, Georgia; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania or Baltimore, Maryland and potentially other locations to improve mission effectiveness or enhance individual career progression.Retention in this position is contingent upon the successful completion and passing of all agency-training requirements.The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license form the jurisdiction where he or she resides.Successful completion of a Physical Ability Test (A minimum of 19 pushups within 2 minutes and a 1.5 mile run within 17:30 minutes) for entry into the position and continuously throughout the career.Applicant must meet Agency mandatory in-service training and firearms requirements as of the closing date of the announcement.This position is subject to recall 24/7 and the employee is required to work shifts; days off vary.Employees assigned to this position are designated as Mission Critical . Mission Critical employees are expected to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations (e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, unless otherwise directed by their supervisor.This positions requires a Top Secret with access to Sensitive Compartmental Information
