Currently seeking Avionics Mission Computer Alternative (MCA) Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's Advanced Mission Computer and Displays team in the design, test, and implementations of military weapon systems and displays.

 Essential Job Functions:

Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test or evaluate military weapons systems.

Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.

Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.

Leads the execution of complex tasks with hardware providers and other support contractors.

Advise the government customer on engineering solutions for the next generation mission computer following NAVAIR Systems Engineering and Technical Review (SETR) processes.

Make recommendations to the government for setting technical hardware and software requirements that will meet the functional requirements specified by fleet users through various platform program offices.

Review vendor provided technical design documents and analyze to determine if the specified requirements will be satisfied by the proposed design.

Review vendor provided technical deliveries and analyze test reports to determine if requirements have been met.

Provide systems engineering analysis to support the NAVAIR SETR process.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

A Bachelors Degree plus 6 years of engineering experience a Masters Degree plus 4 years of experience or a PhD plus 2 years of experience is required.

An active Secret security clearance is required.

Five years of experience directly related to Naval Aviation Systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of VITA 46 and VITA 65 3U/6U Military Avionics designs.

Demonstrated knowledge of Military Aircraft Displays to include Heads-up and Heads-down designs.

Demonstrated knowledge of LCD technologies for use in Military Aircraft to include Night Vision, Luminous, and Color Gamut as well as driving technologies for LCD Panels. 

Understanding of ARINC-818 for driving military displays.

Demonstrated knowledge of Software design processes to include MIL-STD-882 and DO-178C.

Understanding of NAVAIR SETR process.

Strong systems engineering and analysis skills.

Experience with the integration of software and logical systems as well as related hardware requirements.

Working knowledge of the challenges related to functional and non-functional aspects of systems integration.

Understand how to develop and manage component-based software products.

Basic understanding of modular assurance and accreditation strategies and small-footprint change impact.

Ability to identify and express the system requirements for Hardware, Software and Logical architectures.

Understand the benefits and application of interfaces based upon services and management of services.

Basic understanding of how to manage scalability of the system architecture through service specification and implementation.

Desired Skills:

Understanding of the HOST and  Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) Standards.

Understanding of future display technologies and how they will fit in military aircraft.

Understanding of NAVAIR Flight Test process.

Understand the application and benefits of a model-based approach to software development.

Understand how to develop software products that are flexible and extensible by design.

Understand the application and benefits of MBSE to system architecture design and considerations when using MBSE for military avionics systems.
