Job Details

Provides confidential and sensitive administrative duties to a wide-array of customers to include the general public, citizens, attorneys, federal agents, law enforcement officers and other government agencies in the Retrieval and Dissemination Section of the Central Records Division. The appointee will be assigned to the information window and must have the ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and provide accurate information in a timely manner. Researches and provides dissemination of criminal records, criminal and service reports, processing mail-in request, processing sex offender registration, fingerprinting customers and accepting and processing payments for services rendered. Additionally, the responsibilities include responding to customer inquiries, the Records Management System (RMS), the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and from the Virginia State Police system. Will be required to access the FOIA Tracker system to document the dissemination of police records. Must have strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required by the managers and supervisors.

Employment Standards MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and one year of experience providing administrative support.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Subject to criminal background checks and/or credit checks as a condition of hiring. Applicants and employees within these select positions must demonstrate financial responsibility in personal finances as a condition of employment.
Must be able to obtain a Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certification within six months of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal candidate will have at least one year of full-time experience in a police or legal environment, two or more years of experience indexing records into a database or retrieving records from a database and providing front-line customer service.
Prior experience working with Record Management Systems (RMS).
