Belair Road Supply is a locally owned and operated company since its inception in 1917. Our core business is in the distribution of Water and Sewer, Masonry, Stone, Hardscapes and Industrial Tools and Hardware products. Our distribution areas include Maryland, Delaware and Northern Virginia, with 5 locations to service our customer's needs. We are seeking a front counter sales position in our Baltimore, MD location. Duties & Responsibilities Include: Maintain telephone contact with existing, new and potential customers: Provide price and availability information Answer delivery questions Research product information Enter orders Inform customers as to order status Upsell add-ons to customers Administer each customer's account: Track open orders Provide prompt feedback to the customer Answer the outside customer's questions Complete promised actions by promised date Perform regular follow up with customer and/or customer's assigned salesperson to ensure the proper material is ordered and keep them informed of the order status Handle customer relations and order problems promptly: Review issues with the Branch General Manager before they grow Formulate a solution to the problem Discuss potential solutions with the Branch General Manager before taking action Develop and maintain customer profiles for all customers assigned including: Merchandise presented Competitors products used Account business potential Order timing Special and product category pricing Prepare bids to submit to customers for work based on written or telephone requests for bid Applies knowledge of industry and company products and services. Applies knowledge of specialized products and pricing information to assist customers with purchases. Handle special order material expeditiously The material double checked to ensure the correct material is ordered Notify the customer upon order receipt and arrange for delivery Bill the customer for the material on the day of shipment Contact suppliers and Materials Manager to determine the pricing and availability of merchandise requested by customers that must be special ordered Meet regularly with the Branch General Manager to discuss customers served, potential projects that BRS would bid problems and concerns Educate customers as to standard order times and aid them in planning their purchases to minimize telephone and rush orders Contact the Credit Manager to obtain direction regarding credit problems of customers currently being handled Responsible for cash drawers. Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures. Reports any problems or discrepancies to the management. Performs other duties as assigned Minimum of 2 years of building materials / construction knowledge Minimum of high school degree or equivalent Preferred bilingual - English / Spanish Must live in the Baltimore area - no relocation offered.
