  • IAW DoD 5106.04, Defense Inspectors General, dated May 2014, incumbent must successfully complete the course for Defense IGs and Joint inspectors general
  • (Joint IGs) administered by OIG DoD within 120 days of appointment in order to perform the duties, responsibilities, and functions of a Defense IG.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.
  • You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
    • Specialized Experience is Researching, interpreting, analyzing, collecting, and abstracting information to determine an appropriate course of action, prepare reports and/or perform management studies. Analyzing inspection reports and reports of investigation to ensure technical sufficiency, compliance with established policies, total quality, readability, and develop new approaches based on identified weaknesses. Conducting investigations with the ability to exercise tact, initiative, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and judgment in collecting and analyzing facts, evidence, and other pertinent data.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
