  • In order to qualify for a Human Resources Specialist, GS-201-11, you must:

    A. have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M., if related; OR

    B. have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: performing developmental assignments in areas of workplace violence prevention and response; devising case strategy and preparing documentation associated with adverse action cases; developing solutions for complex or non-standard problems with the potential to impact numerous employees.

    OR

    C. have a combination of graduate level education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

    In order to qualify for a Human Resources Specialist, GS-201-12, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: counseling and advising individual employees, supervisors, and managers on workforce violence and prevention or employee related issues; responding to complaints, grievances, and appeals; preparing and/or reviewing documentation associated with adverse action cases; reviewing employee relations program activities.

    In order to qualify for a Human Resources Specialist, GS-201-13, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: counseling and advising individual employees and organizational leadership on workforce violence and prevention or related employee relations issues; reviewing workplace violence and other program activities; reviewing new or proposed workplace violence prevention policies, procedures, and guidelines for an organization; planning and coordinating special studies of workplace violence policies, issues, and practices.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
