Requisition Number Post Date Title MSR Branch Loan Officer City Herndon State VA Description ABOUT THIS ROLE The Retail MSR Branch Loan Officer is responsible for providing an outstanding experience for members and potential members seeking information about the Credit Union s lending products and services or wishing to apply for a loan via branches and through web on line channels The Retail MSR Branch Loan Officer seeks to cultivate and expand member relationships by identifying needs and through a consultative experience with the member aligns appropriate loan and ancillary products to meet their financial needs The Retail MSR Branch Loan officer is reponsible for understanding and executing every aspect of the consumer lending workflow This includes owning the front end member consultation capturing the loan application securing required documentation making sound decisions based on underwriting authority ensuring accuracy of documentation and finally funding and disbursement of loan proceeds DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Engages members in branch and via web seeking information about loan products and services in consultative conversations targeted at identifying appropriate products and services available Captures all required information necessary for completion of an accurate and thorough loan application according to policy and regulation Analyzes critical information in lending decision capacity collateral credit and makes sound judgments on application disposition within individual approved lending authority Ensures thorough completion of loan application and supporting documentation required by loan underwriting team for expedited decisioning Requests and analyzes credit reports for loan decisions and member counseling Determines collateral values for cars trucks RV s motorcycles and boats using NADA Guide Processes all applications received in branch and online reaching out to members as appropriate to obtain additional information and to convey status of loan application Maintains solid understanding of underwriting guidelines according to policy and regulations Establishes effective working relationships with critical internal partners including front end sales staff Branch and e Services Loan Fulfillment team members and Loan Underwriting staff Ensures accuracy and appropriateness of disclosures Provides detailed information and consultation to members with denials and counter offers Performs routine and scheduled follow up on loans in a pending status to ensure appropriate closure Utilizes application data credit report and consultation information to seek opportunities to expand the relationship through other lending ancillary and deposit products Ability to effectively manage a heavy pipeline of fluctuating loan volume Strong written and verbal communication skills teamwork and customer service skills Self motivated and highly organized Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks Flexibility to work extended hours during heavy volume periods Knowledge of Debt Management Programs including Balance and Debt in Focus Must have strong computer skills and proficiency with lending industry software and terminology Ability to compute loan payment schedules Maintains knowledgeable of new types of loan products and financial services as well as changes in applicable regulations Accurately and efficiently process a variety of Retail and Commercial transactions including deposits withdrawals loan payments and check cashing etc as required Open accounts perform account maintenance and other platform duties as required Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Outgoing and service oriented individual Advanced listening and communication skill with ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person and by telephone and e mail Advanced computer skills Strong sense of teamwork and mutual supportiveness Ability to organize a workstation and prioritize workflow Maintains a high sense of urgency Ability to make decisions using sound judgment Consumer loan processing experience strongly desired Knowledge of policies and procedures all products and services available through the Credit Union and Northwest Financial Full knowledge and understanding of the Staff Guidebook membership eligibility requirements check acceptance and the Penley database Basic knowledge and understanding as it relates to the branches of credit union policies and procedures established by Northwest Federal Credit Union NWFCU Board of Directors and Management to comply with applicable rules and regulations including Bank Secrecy Act and CPI provisions including Currency Transaction Reports Form and suspicious activity reporting a USA PATRIOT Act including Customer Identification Program Truth in Savings Uniform gift to minors act Soldiers Civil Relief Act Privacy regulations and Lending regulations including ECOA Regulation B Truth in Lending Regulation Z and Fair Credit Reporting Act FCRA Regulatory and Compliance classes as assigned by management EDUCATION EXPERIENCE Two years of bank credit union or other applicable financial services experience required SKILLS Computer Applications Meridian Link LoansPQ to include credit pulling Episys Zix secure email TMG credit cards Nada Guides Auto Warranty and GAP programs Ability to use the keyboard calculator fax machine and copier Refer other credit union products and services such as Northwest Financial LLC Reviews approved applications to determine that all conditions have been met prior to funding LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read write and speak English clearly Bi Lingual in Spanish a plus MATHEMATICAL SKILLS At times the Retail MSR Branch Loan Officers will need to manually calculate cash flows debt ratios bi weekly and monthly loan payments REASONING ABILITY Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Decisions are made within established Credit Union guidelines Retail MSR Branch Loan Officers must exercise discretion and confidentiality with regards to member employee information They must be able to analyze credit reports and be able to look at the big picture as to whether to approve a loan Retail MSR Branch Loan Officer must be able to assist members with challenging situations and know when to transfer refer member to Manager All pertinent information and or suggested solutions must be given to Manager to assist in decision Interpret understand and explain NWFCU deposit and non deposit products and features to
