The Media Planner Buyer in this role will be responsible for all the day to day coordination planning execution and management of national and local broadcast print and outdoor advertising media plans for American Public Education Inc APEI and its affiliates or clients Responsibilities will include conducting research development and planning of all media recommendations and being able to execute and monitor media buys in a timely and accurate manner Essential Functions Develops effective media buying strategies through sophisticated research and planning to drive tactical media recommendations Compares and negotiates price and placement with numerous media outlets Optimizes and evaluates campaign media mix and budgets based on results and analytics Formulates and presents competitive information and research recommendations Handles all media schedules and contracts with outside media vendors Utilizes and creates analysis templates to report on consumer profiles demographic data and all media outlets Prepares and presents monthly quarterly and yearly trends and results Works closely with cross functional team members to participate in planning strategy development and goal setting for media buys As needed researches and vets potential new online advertising opportunities within targeted verticals Perform other duties as assigned Work Environment and Physical Demands Standard office environment in Manassas VA Required Skills Deep knowledge of developing media plans and executing media buys Demonstrated proficiency in media negotiations Strong understanding of audience profiles media habits and competitive analysis Ability to build and maintain effective relations with media vendors Excellent communication and teamwork skills namely the ability to work with all levels of management and internal teams and external vendors Experience with research resources such as Plan Nielsen NetRatings and AdRelevance and other research planning tools Diligent and attentive to detail Skilled at understanding trends and best practices within the media world Ability to multi task and manage time effectively
