This position, expected to last 2+ months (with potential conversion to permanent), is with one of the largest and most successful lodging companies in the world and is located in Rockville, MD. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Reviewing, analyzing, drafting & negotiating commercial and operational contracts, and partnering with business stakeholders to drive results. Knowing and demonstrating the Legal Department's process and matching it with the business operations and objectives to provide effective, practical and value-added legal advice and solutions. The ability to consistently operate in a dynamic environment to prioritize, process and review, in a timely and organized fashion, a significant quantity of commercial agreements. Working with business stakeholders to implement feasible solutions that achieve business needs and provide appropriate legal safeguards within the four corners of the contract and implementation of the contract. Supporting the Legal Department's efforts to ensure company-wide compliance with internal and external policies. Aligning the contract management lifecycle and contracts review procedures with corporate compliance efforts. Implementing process efficiencies to increase speed to market without compromising the quality of the Legal documents/response.QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: Juris Doctor from accredited law school. Bar membership required - must be licensed in Maryland. 4+ years overall legal experience in a business/commercial law setting; at least 3+ years practicing in a law firm or medium/large in-house legal department. Experience supporting sales teams and procurement teams. Must have relevant experience with routine and complex technology/software agreements and/or (non-patent) intellectual property licensing agreements. Experience with SaaS, ULAs, Cloud Computing, PCI, etc. is preferred. Relevant experience with commercial contracts including professional services agreements, supplier contracts and marketing agreements. Industry experience in the hotel/hospitality/franchise industries (legal or business experience) not required but a significant plus. Proactive self-starter with a willingness and ability to alternatively assume "first chair" or "second chair" legal role in the negotiation, preparation and review of a wide range of commercial agreements. Excellent communication (verbal and written), drafting and negotiating skills. Strong business acumen, problem solving skills and legal judgment. Strong sense of urgency. Solid team player with superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and deal effectively with others, including senior management, peers, support staff and internal clients.(See Job Description)
