Specialized Experience GS-12
Note: At the GS-12 level you may not substitute education for experience.
To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1) serve as primary point of contact, providing on-site customer service support assisting users with executing business processes through a financial or business system, troubleshooting problems, researching business transactions, and incident analysis for a financial or business system;
2) create and run custom reports in a financial or business system or other business intelligence software (i.e.: Tableau, Web Intelligence (WEBI), Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) etc.);
3) analyze business process and provide recommendations for ways to optimize transaction flow in a business and financial system.

A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work with the U.S. Department of the Interior. Ability to troubleshoot problems experienced by internal users and ensure that system issues/user issues are resolved timely.
Technical Application – Ability to serve as a financial and business system subject matter expert to directly assist users in the resolution of budget, finance, property and acquisition system issue.
Oral Communication – Ability to speak effectively and efficiently inside an organization. Ability to communicate complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel, and prepare and present briefings to a variety of program offices including policy offices.
Written Communication – Ability to communicate complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel in writing and prepare written material for a variety of program offices including policy offices.
Acquisition– Knowledge of the underlying principles, statutes, regulations and policies governing procurement and contracting, budget formulation and finance to analyze processing requirements.
