The Office of Housing provides vital public services through its nationally administered programs. It oversees the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the largest mortgage insurer in the world, and regulates important parts of the housing industry. The Office of Housing also helps ensure consumers can access housing counseling and provides affordable rental housing through its Multifamily housing program. The Office of Housing is committed to helping all Americans obtain safe, decent affordable housing.
The Office of Housing Operations supports the infrastructure for the Office of Housing. Housing Operations provides resources and services that are essential for Housing's program offices to meet the goals, objectives, and mission of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Housing Operations also acts as the principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Housing-Federal Housing Commissioner and the General Deputy Assistant Secretary for Housing-Deputy Federal Housing Commissioner, taking a leadership role on various Housing matters.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Providing guidance on correspondence related issues that involves working independently, but within limited frame work of a supervisor, determining what data is required to ensure process consistency and efficiency.
Examples of such experience could include:
-Conducting background research on Congressional, State, local government official, or citizen-generated correspondence received, and monitoring and gathering data to track correspondence flow, e.g. Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests . OR
-Serving as a point of contact for an office or program. OR
-Participating in revision of program policy and making recommendations for updates to procedures.
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
LL.B. or J.D., if related
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
