  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 45-System Administration within 6 months of appointment.
  • Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NO-02 pay band or (GS 5-10) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing IT systems, computer operations, functions and capabilities including developing comprehensive IT policies, procedures and techniques; Applying Federal and DoD Information Assurance regulations, policies and standards to IT systems; Identifying and protecting information and materials from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, or loss utilizing diverse and broad based information systems principles, practices, procedures, requirements, techniques and applicable laws; Providing effective IT solutions to administrative and research staff by using critical thinking skills and troubleshooting methodology; Serving as an IT representative for a research organization.

    In addition to the specialized experience above, your resume must also reflect IT related experience demonstrating the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication and Problem Solving.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management;

    OR

    Successful completion of 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

    This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

    This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area 45, System Administration, and as a condition of employment incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include:
    1. Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and;
    2. Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor.
