Overview:

Responsible for the direction/coordination of the business and operational activities of departments assigned including Surgical Services, Imaging & Cardiac Services, Endoscopy, Surgical Programs, Respiratory Services and Construction Planning. As a member of the executive team, this position is responsible for the direction and oversight of implementing the following items: Implementation of the program development and growth goals as outlined in the strategic plan for the facility. Identification of necessary physician recruitment needs to support plan. Direct and matrix oversight for specific departments as outlined in the organizational chart including operations, strategy, and relationship development with physicians, leaders & staff.


Responsibilities
    Develop and foster effective collaboration between departments, other divisions, medical staff leadership, and other affiliated services (inside and outside of the hospitals) to ensure an integrated approach to providing services, and fulfilling the mission, market, medicine and members of the team goals and objectives.Manages the staff in accordance with the Sentara Healthcare operating philosophy. Establishes performance goals, ensures accountability for position expectations, allocates labor resources, develops leadership team, and contributes to the development of human resource policies. Provide administrative direction to direct reports by applying specialized and technical knowledge in the implementation and execution of the planned programs while ensuring Sentara’s mission and strategic direction is followed.Works to communicate and reinforce a vision for the hospital that emphasizes strong and effective physician relationships, the creation of new business opportunities, dedication to customers, and responsiveness to healthcare reform and changing reimbursement patterns.
    Recommend improvement of hospital facilities, including construction and/or renovation of structures and purchase of new equipment as necessary.
  • Drive growth, clinical quality and financial performance of assigned major clinical and operational services lines across the Sentara system. They will lead the product line program with strong physician-hospital alignment to improve the quality of care
    Communicate openly and effectively, internally and externally, with a wide variety of individuals to ensure that their needs are being met and that the reputation of the company is enhanced, while maintaining strict confidentiality. Leads, monitors and operates with accountability: Implement and/or develop systems to monitor and ensure compliance with productivity standards, performance standards and position competencies.Budget Development and Assures that Plans are implemented as planned: Develops and monitors current and projected capital and operating budgets, initiating corrective action when substandard financial performance occurs.Maintain compliance with laws, rules and regulations governing hospitals and healthcare practitioners as well as the standards of accrediting bodies by monitoring operations and initiating changes where required.

Physician network development and management, and clinical quality and process management. Broad Understanding and Experience within the Health care continuum.

Responsibility for administrator on-call on a rotating basis.
