Must be currently enrolled, at least half time, in an accredited institution within the Washington, DC commuting area.

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined asone (1) year of general experience that demonstrates the following: Progressively responsible clerical, office or other work AND enrolled at least half-time in an accredited institution; OR
You may also substitute two (2) years of education above high school AND enrolled at least half-time in an accredited institution.
GS-05 grade level:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 or equivalent level. Examples of specialized experience: 1) Maintaining research databases; 2) Providing administrative or clerical support; 3) Using word processing software to produce materials such as spreadsheets, memorandums, and research materials, AND enrolled at least half-time in an accredited institution; OR
You may also substitute successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a Bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university AND enrolled at least half-time in an accredited institution.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Initial Probationary Period: You will be required to serve an initial probationary period of two years if one has not already been completed.
