Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
Bargaining Unit Status: This is a Bargaining unit position.
Organizational Location: These positions are located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, at both headquarters and field office duty locations. Field Offices include: Atlanta; Baltimore; Buffalo; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Detroit; El Paso, Houston; Los Angeles; Miami; New Orleans; New York; Newark; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Salt Lake City; San Antonio; San Diego; San Francisco; Seattle, Saint Paul, and Washington (Fairfax). Headquarters positions are located in Mesa, AZ.
Duty Location: Applicants must select no more than three (3) organizational locations in which they would be willing to work and relocate. Please note, when selecting an organizational location, you must be willing to work at any duty location that falls within that organizational location's area of responsibility. For example, if you select the Atlanta Field Office, you may be offered a position in Lumpkin, GA.

Minimum Qualifications: In addition to meeting the typing requirement, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for each grade level in which you are applying below:
To be qualified at the GS-05 level, you must possess one of the following:
A. One full year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service, performing duties such as
- :Performing a variety of recordkeeping, reporting, and informational duties;
- Compiling, maintaining, and updating automated records;
- Responding to requests for procedural information.
B. Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. C. A combination of specialized experience as described in A and post-high school education as described in B that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. (Please note that only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year) may be used in this calculation.) (You must submit transcripts.)
To qualify for this position at the GS-06: You must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service that included duties such as:
- Performing routine functions associated with processing those arrested or detained by law enforcement officials (e.g., booking, strip and baggage searches);
- Performing file searches and assembling documentation in accordance with specific instructions;
- Providing routine information on specific and clearly defined questions and issues regarding legal or law enforcement policies, practices and procedures.
- Providing clerical and administrative support to a law enforcement program.;
- Establishing and reviewing legal case files to determine status of proceedings and taking appropriate action to close out the file or direct onward.
- Preparing a variety of legal paperwork, forms, notices and documents, including warrants and records of proceedings.
- Preparing travel documents and making travel arrangements for domestic and/or international travel;
- Reviewing bond cases to determine status and identify appropriate action to continue, cancel, or breach and submit for supervisory review.
