SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level or pay band in Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as: extensive knowledge of personnel security, suitability, Federal Investigative Standards, Executive Order 12968, Code of Federal Regulations 5 CFR 731, and federal regulations governing personnel security; serves as technical authority in the development, implementation, and execution of personnel security and suitability guidelines, programs, policies, and procedures; manages the review of systems, databases, responses to security questionnaires, Reports of Investigation (ROI), law enforcement documents, incident reports and related information associated with a candidate to make final determinations for employment suitability, credentialing, and access to classified information.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Promotion to the next highest grade level is neither guaranteed nor implied.
NOTE: More than one selection may be made within 90 days of the issuance of the certificate, if additional vacancies occur.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
