  • Must possess a Pipefitter Journeyman license/certification or at a minimum have 5 years experience as a Pipefitter WG-4204-10/11.
  • Periodic hearing and vision testing is required.
  • Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

    This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to do the work of a Pipefitter Work Leader under normal supervision performing such duties as: 1) Install , modify, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial or domestic high-temperature water and high-pressure piping systems and equipment; 2) Plan, lay out and install piping systems and equipment from blueprints, sketches, etc.; 3) Works with processing lines that may contain hazardous materials; and 4) Follows all safety requirements, practices, and procedures when working in a hazardous or industrial environment as well as on all work assignments.

    Working Conditions:
    Heaviest weights handled are approximately 100 pounds. Most of the time handles apparatus weighting 25 to 50 pounds and carriers these for distances of approximately 25 to 50 feet.
    Heavy exertion is required frequently, as in mounting and removing motors form their bases, hanging heavy motor starting equipment and pulling large size conductors and cables in conduit. Kneels, crouches, stoops, works from ladders, straddles floor and roof timbers.
    Works outdoors, sometimes in extreme heat or cold. Incumbent is exposed to noise vibration, wood dust, and frequently to dirt, dampness, and occasionally to poor illumination when building or repairing structures. Works frequently at high elevations from ladders and staging. Is exposed to danger from falling timbers, bricks and tools and flying particles such as splinters, broken blades, cutters, pieces of masonry and nails. May be exposed to noxious fumes.
