This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Student Trainee (Social Science) positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

This position will be filled under the Pathways Internship Program. This Program allows students to gain paid work experience while pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate at a qualifying institution. Under the Pathways Program, students who successfully complete all work, study, qualifications, and other eligibility requirements may be offered a permanent position work our agency upon graduation or completion of a qualifying certificate.
At the Agency's discretion, students hired under the Pathways Program may be non-competitively converted to a term, career, or career-conditional appointment with a possible Full Performance Level (FPL) of GS-05, GS-07, GS-09, GS-11, GS-12, or GS-13 (FPL varies based on hiring department).
This position is in the excepted service.
This is a bargaining unit position.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
You must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited technical or vocational school, two-year or four-year college or university, graduate or professional school (go to www.ope.ed.gov/accreditation/ to verify accreditation status). Individuals who are enrolled must be taking at least a half-time academic, vocational, or technical course load leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Basic Grade Requirements:
GS-07: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree.
S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
1. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
2. Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-- Applicants must have a grade-point average of:
1. 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or
2. 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
3. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
GS-09: Completion of 2 academic years of graduate level education (36 credit hours toward master's degree), or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.
GS-11: Completion of all requirements for a PhD or equivalent degree.

- Knowledge of social science and survey methodological principles to improve data quality in surveys and censuses.
- Knowledge of evaluating survey and/or census survey materials and procedures.
- Knowledge of computer programs and techniques to implement survey research.
- Professional or educational experience in Spanish with reading, writing, and communicating verbally at a high level of fluency.
