    Specialized Experience: For GS-05, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal services.Experience for this position includes: performing various administrative support duties which include maintaining files and records; reviewing correspondence for spelling, typographical errors, and conformance to formats and procedural requirements; receiving and screening visitors; and providing support in the areas of personnel, purchasing, travel, time and attendance, training, budget, and other related administrative activities.

    EDUCATION: Four years above the high school level in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university may be substituted for specialized experience, OR an equivalent combination of successfully completed post high school education and experience. 

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
