In addition to the requirements above, to qualify for the SV-K Pay Band (equivalent to GS-15) you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-J Pay Band or GS-14 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. For this position, specialized experience is further defined as follow:
- Experience managing and supervising criminal and administrative investigations; AND 2.) Experience applying criminal statues, rules of evidence, and court decision for conducting investigations and performing surveillance and undercover work; AND 3.) Experience in conflict resolution and applying appropriate investigative protocols with industry officials at, federal, state and local levels.
Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour work week. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months' equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Selectee must have successfully completed Basic Training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) or equivalent.
This is a sensitive position and the tentative selectee must undergo and successfully complete a background investigation and polygraph as a condition of placement/retention in the position.
DHS TSA employees may be subject to 24-hour on call duty in the event of an emergency. This service may require irregular working hours, working at locations other than the official duty stations, and may include duties other than those specified in the position description. Selectee must be able to relocate to emergency sites where little advance notice and function under intense physical and mental stress.
Conditions of Employment:
- You must maintain a high standard of physical condition to work long hours under adverse conditions with unscheduled travel..
- You will be expected to successfully complete all agency required training. This includes firearm proficiency requirements as defined by TSA.
- You will be entitled to law enforcement availability pay (LEAP) of 25% of base pay for availability to work substantial amounts of “unscheduled duty”.
