As a Professional Development Program Intern for the Airports Authority, you will gain real world experience and industry knowledge while building knowledge and skills in your field as you work toward achieving your career goals.

Professional Development Program Intern (Human Resources)

Serves in the Organization Development Department of the Office of Human Resources and Administrative Services (Office) in the Headquarters Building.

Performs a range of basic professional human resources duties while learning about the Airports Authority. Serves as a Professional Development Program Intern, which is intended to lead to a full performance position following successful completion of the internship. Acquires and improves professional skills while gaining real world experience and knowledge. As knowledge, experience, and skills increase, more complex and varied responsibilities are assigned. Professional Development Program Internships extend for a period of eighteen months. Performs related functions.

GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Conducts HR research and analyzes HR information in relation to the assigned projects.

Assists in recruitment, selection, and placement duties to include creating and posting vacancy announcements, reviewing job applications, and informing hiring managers and job applicants regarding recruitment processes, etc.

Assists in the development and production of human resources information reports to include generating HR analytics and other performance metrics. Creates dashboards and reports.

Assists with various labor and employee relations work including assisting with the Apprenticeship Program.

Assists with various training and employee development work to include administering training programs.

Assists with compensation related functions to include job evaluation and compensation calculations.

Assists in the writing and editing of new and/or updating of existing job descriptions. Helps determine minimum qualifications and other selection factor for jobs.

Assists in organizational structure evaluation and redesign. Assists with position structure reviews.

Develops and gives professional presentations.

Works with the Organization Development Department to create an individual development and performance plan. Identifies weaknesses and strengths in education, training, and experience. Participates in quarterly reviews of performance.

Attends training for developmental purposes.

Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of human resources fundamentals such as recruitment, selection, training and development practices and procedures.

Basic knowledge of regulatory guides at Federal level, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, provisions of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), etc.

Ability to perform analyses of data and information and make recommendations.

Ability to speak and write effectively.

Ability to use computer hardware and office suite software.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certification as a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) by the Society for Human Resources Management or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by HR Certification Institute.


EDUCATION

A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
