Research Associate II/Bioinformatics

Job Duties: Georgetown University (Washington, DC) seeks a Research Associate II/Bioinformatics to work with ICBI research leaders to provide biocuration and data analysis support, perform project related literature and database research, develop project plans, and maintain research documents, meeting minutes and track progress on different tasks. Due to the rapidly evolving nature of biomedical informatics, the incumbent is expected to stay upto date on new bioinformatics tools and latest electronic data capture technologies as needed for different projects. S/he is expected to compile scholarly summaries of peer-reviewed literature, co-author reports and publications, and give presentations at national and international meetings and workshops. The candidate should be able to effectively communicate with varying levels of internal and external experts in the field, collaborate on multiple projects and build relations with ICBI collaborators. The incumbent will exercise independent judgment in performing assigned tasks under the direction of the lead researcher of a project.

Requires: Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or closely related field. Candidate must have 6 months experience demonstrating good understanding or bioinformatics tools and resources, biocuration, molecular biology and genetics concepts.
