  • You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

    To qualify at the CU-13 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-12 level in the federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include the following activities: 1) performing examinations and audits of financial institutions; 2) conducting information technology related training on system use and best practices; 3) identifying potential risks in information systems and cybersecurity; 4) assessing risk management for information systems and cybersecurity; and 5) obtaining management commitments to implement corrective actions.

    To qualify at the CU-14 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-13 level in the federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include the following activities: 1) performing examinations and audits of financial institutions; 2) auditing, assessing, developing or overseeing electronic service and information systems or controls and cybersecurity, including network architecture, components and configurations; 3) developing and communicating complex technical information solutions both orally and in writing; 4) reviewing and assessing independent auditors' reports, vulnerability scanning, patch management procedures and documentation, penetration testing, compliance audits and other IT reports; and 5) serving as an advisor, at the national level, regarding policies and emerging IT related trends, risks, and threats.

    If you are selected for this position at the CU-13, you may be non-competitively promoted to the next level through CU-14 level provided that you have fulfilled the necessary qualification requirements including any applicable certification processes. Promotion is not automatic and is conditional on demonstrated ability to perform the higher grade level duties, a current written performance appraisal rating of "fully successful" or better, fulfillment of the necessary qualification requirements, and sufficient work at the higher grade level position.

    SALARY: Pay will be set using NCUA's Compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's National Pay Rate (NPR) which does not include locality pay. Actual salary will be determined upon the location of selectee and the applicable locality pay per CU table will be applied. The 2019 locality rates, by location, can be found on the NCUA Careers webpage under the NCUA CU Pay Structure.
