  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a confined space proficiency and perform confined space entry certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • This position requires participation in the Medical Surveillance Program to include passing a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
  • The incumbent will be required to occasionally wear escape respiratory protection and to wear protective safety equipment, such as safety shoes, safety glasses, goggles, respirators, hearing protection, hard hat, safety harness, etc.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as ?Key? and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position has been designated ?Mission Essential?.
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) High Voltage Electrician~ without more than normal supervision. Abilities include performing common duties such as installing, repairing, modifying, troubleshooting, loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures and controls, automatic transfer switches, transformers, 4160-volt and the 2400-volt system, large motors, and switchgear, diagnosing, modifying , overhauling, repairing and maintaining a variety of electrical devices, equipment and components. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

    To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below.     • Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort is exerted while working on poles, at ground level, in trenches, or manholes. Work requires bending stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods. Coordination of eyes, hands, legs and body is needed in installing, repairing, and testing electrical equipment. Required to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds on occasion and at times more.
    • Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Is exposed to danger from explosions of equipment and cables in manholes and vaults, as well as danger from high voltage electrical shock, burns from solder, cuts and bruises. Is exposed to heat and noise when working in substations or power-generating facilities. Other work conditions include extreme weather, unpleasant odors and wet slippery surfaces when working in manholes and other underground structures as well as sedimentation basins. Is subject to electrical burns while working around high voltage electrical lines, falls from scaffolding, ladders, poles, and strains from awkward work positions. Is exposed to chemicals such as insulating oil from transformers and oil switches.

    This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
