Director, Clinical Practice Guidelines
We are the oldest and largest global professional membership organization representing the field of endocrinology. Our members come from 122 countries, with 40 percent living outside the United States. We are unique in that our members are not only on the frontier of breakthrough research discoveries, but they also apply this knowledge in the treatment of patients with hundreds of debilitating hormone-related diseases and conditions.

We are passionate about our mission and are seeking a Director of Clinical Practice Guidelines who will help us maintain the highest standards for our world-renowned clinical practice guidelines. We are seeking an individual who has a proven track record to provide operational oversight for the development, production, and publication of the Society’s clinical practice guidelines along with updating existing guidelines to reflect evolving clinical science and to meet the needs of practicing physicians. You will serve as a staff liaison to writing groups and Clinical Guidelines Committee as you manage the development of systematic reviews, evidence tables, and meta-analyses that will expand the breadth and reach of our clinical practice guidelines not only to endocrinologists and other health care professionals but also to patients, policy makers, and payers.
What you’ll bring to the job:
- College degree required and at least 5 years’ experience in the development of clinical practice guidelines or educational products. Candidates with equivalent/transferable experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated effective project management skills is required.
- Experience with GRADE system is desirable.
- Supervisory experience required, with the ability to plan and support the development of others.
- Strong oral communication skills necessary to run large and complex committee proceedings.
- Sufficient scientific knowledge to work with writing committee members in support of guideline production.

What you’ll own:
- Direct Endocrine Society guideline program to meet internal Endocrine Society guideline policy, procedures, and methodology, including the maintenance of documented manuals.
- Identify and implement opportunities to expand breadth and reach of clinical practice guidelines program.
- Work cross-departmentally to oversee editorial review of guidelines with specific attention to the review and approval of guidelines in the final publication phase.
- Manage guideline-related contract preparation, negotiation, review, and approval with appropriate staff members, contracts, and legal teams.
- Manage relationships with members, partners, and external stakeholders, including guideline co-developers and co-sponsors. Work with our members and staff to address requests from external stakeholders for endorsement, co-sponsorship, or co-development of external guidelines.
- Work with marketing and media relations to develop clinical practice guideline communications strategy, including a presence on the Society’s website.
- Participate in functions and meetings of committees including, but not limited to, Writing Committees and Clinical Guidelines Committee; manage year-round engagement of key members of these groups and develop and implement action plans.
- Supervise the primary staff liaison to guideline task forces and writing groups.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Delegate responsibility, and work with and coach staff to develop their capabilities. Provide helpful, timely feedback, provides new opportunities that will help develop their abilities. Responsible for hiring staff, delegating tasks, conducting coaching sessions, and providing constructive, timely feedback that enhances career development.
- Show overall concern for the developmental level of an individual, a group of peers, or employees. Clarify responsibilities, authority, and expectations. Provide timely guidance and feedback to help staff accomplish a task or solve a problem. Provide guidance in how to strengthen knowledge, skills, and competencies to improve personal and organizational performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with members by listening, understanding, and responding to identified needs. Respond to member/leadership/community needs; actively promote positive relationships with the membership and other groups (committees, leadership, stakeholders, etc.). Exhibit high level of customer service and identify ways to improve service procedures/levels within own position. Respond and follow-through on internal and external requests.
