CPB is currently seeking to hire a Project Manager, Engagement (Level 7) Salary $62,700 - $85,800. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Engagement.

General Description:
Develop and manage public media engagement grant programs that address community issues and build awareness of the impact of public service media on American life. Ensure effective coordination and alignment of activities and impact measurement working with stations, producers and distributors, partners and other experts. Communicate system-wide and with key stakeholders around progress and success of projects.

Specific Duties:

  • Manages public media’s American Graduate: Getting to Work initiative, which focuses on positioning public media to build on its education mission and raise awareness regarding the state of the workforce skills gap and successful strategies to gain employment.
  • Designs community and digital engagement campaigns, develops grant programs and reviews proposals, manages partnerships, monitors grant and contract deliverables, evaluates and supports the work of grantees, refines timelines and budgets, advises on resource needs, collects data to support project evaluation, and reports on progress and evaluation throughout the course of project implementation to ensure quality of work and potential for impact.
  • Develops and implements internal and external marketing and communications efforts highlighting project progress and impact and driving adoption of best practices and priority initiatives throughout the public broadcasting system, key stakeholders, and related partners.
  • Works collaboratively across the organization to drive community engagement best practices within grant programs and investments, establishes a process for reporting and evaluating the effectiveness of station and community engagement grants.
  •  Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public policy, marketing and communications, media and business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Four plus years’ work experience in a professional level position with experience in community and digital/social engagement, communications and issues management, and partnership development within complex national and local environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management and execution of all phases of the process (e.g., establishing goals, planning, organizing, securing input and approvals from other departments and experts as needed, managing and synthesizing signficant amounts of information, design and workflows, communications, research and measurement, and creating and maintaining required resources – including budget), as well as managing multiple concurrent contracts, competing priorities and shifting timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills – oral, written, and digital -- with the ability to generate presentations, press releases and one-sheets, and reports with attention towards a wide variety of audiences, and ability to synthesize complex details into compelling stories.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and develop business and community relationships and partnerships, and ability to manage difficult situations.
  • Ability to collect and analyze project proposals, data and budgets, and recommend modifications as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with with Microsoft Office, as well as with spreadsheet and database programs.
