Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience at least 24 semester hours in Accounting and 9 semester hours in Computer Science and a minimum of six (6) years of considerable progressively responsible experience using automated accounting systems in a governmental or commercial accounting environment.  Experience in financial reporting, analysis and the development and presentation of financial information. Experience using financial/graphics software packages and automated systems.

Or, an equivalent combination of post high school education in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in using automated accounting systems in a government or commercial accounting environment. Experience in financial reporting, analysis and the development and presentation of financial information. Experience in using financial/graphics software packages and automated systems.

Medical Group:

Job Summary/Duties:

Analyst performs professional accounting  work in financial reporting and analysis, as well as personal computer (PC) presentations, with responsibility for reviewing accounting requirements; performing quality control checks of financial data; analyzing and reporting accounting information  for both internal and external use; and developing and presenting accounting  data  from PC based information. Employee facilitates the effectiveness of the financial accounting reporting system by establishing, maintaining, and enhancing programs using personal computers and mainframe interfaces. Employee coordinates the preparation and review of  internal and external financial reports and requires  proficiency in the operation of PC software applications and related mainframe interfaces. Analyst provides professional expertise to internal and external auditors and makes recommendations for the resolution of problems with annual and special audits.

Plans, coordinates and  develops financial information from PC database software. Formulates accounting information for presentation to Authority management.

Coordinates  the preparation and  review of  internal and external financial reports. Coordinates, develops, formats and prepares material pertaining to financial reporting.                   

Measures and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of financial information provided throughout the Authority; ensures that an adequate system of fund control exists and that a continuous review is conducted of all aspects of the accounting operation.

Reviews procedures, documents, and transactions occurring between accounting and other systems.  Ensures their accuracy, propriety, and completeness.  Issues correcting instructions and formal adjustment documents, when necessary, and prepares reports summarizing findings.

Reviews internal/external financial reports and replies to requests for financial information received from WMATA staff, the Board of Directors, local jurisdictions, and state and Federal government agencies.

Heads project management teams in planning, developing, organizing, coordinating and monitoring the efforts to meet office objectives. Establishes project time lines and ensures the effective utilization of resources. Provides  periodic status reports.

Oversees a program for a before and after-the-fact administrative examination of financial transactions ensuring their accuracy, propriety, and completeness. Reviews the effort to measure and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of financial information provided throughout the Authority. 

Develops, coordinates and oversees the publishing of monthly custom reports for distribution throughout the Authority.

Performs research and analysis work on special projects.

Performs other duties, as required.
