Supports advancement of ANA’s advocacy agenda through the implementation of grassroots, communication and political engagement strategies and through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

DUTIES:
1. Legislative Support
Remain informed of current significant trends, issues and strategies related to ANA policies, positions, and issues. Collaborate closely with and provide support to senior lobbying and advocacy and engagement team members related to issue portfolio assignments. Represent ANA in coalition meetings and other external events. Attend, monitor and summarize congressional and regulatory hearings. Monitor regulations and congressional legislation. Assist with monitoring state legislative trends. Maintain and submit timely and accurate lobbying activity and expenditure records according to ANA and federal lobby disclosure laws.
2. Grassroots Engagement – In collaboration with team members, assists in the development of comprehensive grassroots and grass tops plans, including development of issue specific microsites, social media networks/content, email action alerts, and the coordination of in-person and virtual lobby constituent days to advance ANA’s advocacy agenda, educate and engage advocates and to encourage action on ANA priorities. Works closely with all internal stakeholder’s advocacy planning and messaging.
3. Communications Support – Assist in execution of a communications plan for the dissemination of information on Government Affairs activities to members and non-members through online, social media, electronic and print communication tools including bi-weekly summary of events. As appropriate, represent the association in speaking engagements with internal and external audiences.
4. Political Advocacy – Supports endorsement processes, including the vetting of candidates for endorsement by ANA-PAC through evaluation based on internal criteria. As necessary, supports the planning and implementation of ANA’s activities and involvement around the National Conventions. Participates in other political events as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required.

Related Work Experience
Minimum of three years related experience with at least three (2) years in political advocacy or public policy.

•Very strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
•Ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple, complex projects.
•Ability to relate easily to diverse individuals and groups and foster consensus.
•Solid understanding of the legislative process.
•Ability to understand complex policies and issues and synthesize them clearly and compellingly for diverse audiences.
•Strong understanding of and experience with social media platforms and engagement.
•Discretion, tact, the ability to act independently with good judgment, and the ability to function as part of a team.
